Impertinent Questions FAQ

What is Impertinent Questions?

A daily impertinent question to provoke your curiosity. About who you are. And who you’re not. And what you make of the world. And who you might become. With a hefty wadge of why, how, where and what if. What you bring to it is up to you, from mild inquiry to full-scale intrusion.

How does it work?

Sign up here and you’ll receive an Impertinent Question in your inbox each weekday for a month. You’ll get 20 in total, each a 30-second-ish read.

Is it free?

Yep.

Who is it for?

Anyone who’s curious about who they are, where they’re going, why that might be, and whether it’s what they actually want. And/or leaders who need to learn more about who they are so they can do more stuff on purpose and less by accident.

Who is it not for?

Overwhelmed by your inbox? Can’t face another e-mail? Don’t sign up! It’s also not for the fundamentally incurious or (very) easily offended.

How do I use the questions?

There’s no ‘proper’ way to engage with Impertinent Questions. One size doesn’t fit all, so I encourage you to be curious. (Of course I do.) Here are some ways other people use the Questions.

  • Lots of people like to find a moment to read and reflect on them as they arrive

  • Others save them in a folder and catch up on 2 or 3 at a time.

  • Some people, having saved the full set, prefer to dive in at random whenever they need a reflective jolt

  • Some read them simply to spark a few reflections in the moment

  • Others keep that day’s question in mind as they go about their day, examining their answers or trying out new ones

  • Some set aside a regular half hour to wonder intensively, check their evidence and consider what’s next

What works for you? Do you have a different approach to Impertinent Questions? Please tell me; I’d love to know and share that too.

What if I have a tech issue?

When you sign up you should receive an ‘opt in’ e-mail. This will ask you to confirm that you’d definitely like to receive the Questions. Once you’ve clicked on the link you’ll receive your first Question on the following weekday.

If you don’t receive the ‘opt in’ e-mail please check your spam folder in case it’s there. If it’s not in spam, if you confirm but don’t receive the Questions, if they stop prematurely, or if you have a different tech issue, please e-mail me and I’ll look into it for you.

Do you have anything a bit longer to read?

Yep – that was a shameless plug for my occasional, longform newsletter, The Curious Leader. Contains the odd swear.

I’ve got a different question!

I’m always curious to know what you’re curious about. So if you have questions, or indeed answers, do send them over. (I read everything but may not respond immediately.)

For clarity, Impertinent Questions is not a coached course and does not include personal, one-to-one interaction. So if you’d like some personal coaching, feedback or guidance as well, let's have a chat about our one-to-one and/or group coaching programmes.

May the curiosity be with you!
